Setting Up Your Google for Nonprofits Account & Delegating Access to First Arriving

Modified on Thu, 28 Mar 2024 at 10:11 AM

First Steps

As a 501(c)(3), you can sign up for a Google for Nonprofits account, you'll need a few things:

  1. A Google account, something like "myfiredept@gmail.com" -- you'll only use this likely short term until we set up your @YourDomain.com email and such later. You can also use a personal one worst case, but we don't recommend it. We recommend using a gmail address that you'll use for your organization that others can access should personnel and leadership change.  If you don't have a Google account for your organization/department, visit https://accounts.google.com/SignUp?hl=en to create one.
  2. Get your 501(c)(3) validated by Percent, who partners with Google.  Follow the instructions here: https://support.google.com/nonprofits/answer/12016036?hl=en&ref_topic=3247647&sjid=7777421265542402821-NA

Request a Google for Nonprofits account

Once you have confirmed your organization's eligibility, follow the instructions at this link: https://support.google.com/nonprofits/answer/3367631.  Follow the instructions titled "Request a Google for Nonprofits account" and "Wait for verification."

Once You Are Approved

Once you're approved, you'll need to add First Arriving as an Administrator of your Google for Non Profit account. This will allow us to set up/manage your email, your OneToday campaigns, create and manage your Google Ad Grant program, custom YouTube features and more.

Just login to the Google for Non Profit landing page at https://www.google.com/nonprofits/https://www.google.com/nonprofits/select the "Manage Administrators" button, and then from there "Add Administrator". When promoted (shown below) enter First Arriving for the name and accounts@firstarriving.com for the email address. You don't need to enter a Job Title. That's it!

Be sure to let your Project Manager know once you've completed it and we'll ensure it's all set up!

Activate Google for Nonprofits products

Once these steps are complete, we should be able to assist you with setting up your Google Workspace for Nonprofits suite of tools, which includes email.  Note that in order to connect products to your URL that we will require access to your domain name settings (DNS); your webmaster can assist you with that.  We will also need to set up a super-administrator account within your Google Workspace.
